The course will provide an introduction of management and leadership issues in the world of nonprofit organizations. Nonprofit businesses have a unique standing in the world of business where they rely on voluntary exchanges to obtain revenue and resources such as donors, the government, or one group to provide clients or beneficiaries with their services. Understanding who leads, the decision-making process, and other executive functions are vital to nonprofit success.
“The opportunity to share perceptions, insights, and challenges with professionals from many different industries was really valuable for me. Just being able to discuss a real-world challenge with members of my cohort – successful men and women with diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and goals– helped me improve my family business. That network of support continues long after graduation.”
- Adrian Harmon, MBA ‘09
Achieving your dream of growing a nonprofit can be personally and financially rewarding. According to the National Center for Charitable Statistics, there are approximately 1.3 million 501(c)3 organizations based in the United States, and nonprofit organizations account for 5-10% of the United States’ economy. Graduates can become more than knowledgeable employees in nonprofit or government work. Earning an M.S. in Nonprofit Management opens doors to higher managerial positions and gives students the business skills to start their own nonprofit organizations or foundations.
